3:30pm Update

The NWS has now officially joined the party and issued a Winter Storm Warning from the Triangle north and east with official accumulation forecasts of 3-5″.  I tell you, though, if the short term model guidance verifies areas in the box bounded by Sanford to Roxboro to Roanoke Rapids to Goldsboro could get 6-10″.  Again, this is just potential!  This happens if the storm gets cranking and the deformation band blossoms.  At this point let’s say that 3-5″ is a pretty safe bet with the expectation of at least a narrow band of 6-8″ in there.  We should be able to access this later this evening for a reality check.

As for the near term…there will probably be a lull in precip for a bit over the next couple of hours.  We’ll see spotty rain and snow showers, before the steady precip begins this evening.  Again, accumulations will happen lastly on the roads.  And any road accumulation is not expected until late tonight.

Big, beautiful flakes of snow continuing to fall in China Grove. Wish Josh and Grant were here to sled down our hill as you once did! DD says 2+” and still snowing in G’boro.
